Zen Mat Cleaning - Old

Zen Mat: Quick and Easy Cleaning

There are many reasons to have a Zen Habitats Zen Mat. The fact that it’s incredibly easy to keep clean makes it a must have for your pet’s 4’x2’x2’ enclosure.

The Zen Mat’s padded and textured surface keeps your reptile from slipping, helping to reduce joint stress. The mat is conductive and when used with a PVC enclosure and a heat pad, helps to minimize heat loss.

The seamless and poreless design prevents messes from seeping in between the mat and enclosure floor, preventing bacteria growth and odor. Not only does it provide a clean and healthy environment for your pet, it’s also very easy to clean.

Based on your pet (and how messy he or she may be), you should fully clean the mat every 3-4 weeks, with daily spot-cleaning in between as needed.

Cleaning your Zen Mat

Step 1: Remove the doors on the enclosure so that you have easy access to the Zen Mat. Take out everything in the enclosure including furniture, food bowls, and other accessories.

Step 2: Roll up the Zen Mat as you remove it from the enclosure, so you do not drop messes, food, and other loose materials on the floor.

Step 3: Spray the Zen Mat with a water and then mixture of water and Dawn® dishwashing liquid, proven to be safe for animals. If you do not have access to an outside hose, you can easily wash your mat in the shower or bathtub.

Step 4: Scrub the mat down and spray it with water. You may have to repeat this step as some urate stains can be stubborn.

Step 5: Use paper towels to dry the mat and, just like that, you’re done!
